Gorgeous Girls In Supply Chain: Victoria Jones

Welcome to our series celebrating the incredible women in Supply Chain and Logistics! In a traditionally male-dominated field, it's important to shine a light on the inspiring women who are making a significant impact. Through a mix of insightful and fun questions, we’ll explore their journeys, challenges, and successes. While we acknowledge the contributions of everyone in this industry, this series aims to elevate the voices and stories of women who often get missed. Victoria Jones is our next feature.

VICTORIA JONES

It feels like just yesterday Victoria and I clicked immediately upon meeting at Sarah Barnes-Humphreys' Women in Logistics dinner back at Manifest in February. Her energy is absolutely infectious, our entire table had such a blast that night! Fast forward just a few months, and I feel incredibly lucky to call her a genuine friend.

Not only does Victoria dedicate her professional life to the supply chain industry, but she also generously volunteers her time with CITT (Canadian Institute of Traffic and Transportation), actively working to move the entire industry forward. And as if that's not impressive enough, she still manages to find time to share her insights by writing for Inside Logistics Magazine. Victoria truly is thoughtful, generous, intelligent, and just so much fun to be around. Just a friendly warning though: don't get between her and her iced latte!

  1. What is your current role and company?

  2. How did you end up in the world of supply chain?

    • I began my career 11 years ago as a logistics coordinator at a family owned specialty ingredients distributor in Oakville, Ontario. Like most people back then, supply chain was not my end goal, but it has become the greatest adventure of my life.

  3. What is your favourite part of your work day?

    • My favourite part of the work day is the first few minutes walking into the office, fresh, new challenges and new conversations to be had.

  4. What is the least favourite part of your work day?

    • A few minutes after that when the fires and issues from the day before come to light.

  5. What is a systemic issue in your part of the supply chain that concerns you currently?

    • Global trade and geopolitical uncertainty

  6. How would you address it if you had the power, money, or influence?

    • I'm not sure if there is enough power, money or influence in the world to tackle that question at this time.

  7. What is one piece of advice you have for young women entering your field?

    • Put yourself in the rooms that you are not invited into. Make your own seat at the table, and never let anyone tell you that you don't belong there. We all start somewhere, there are women in your corner that you haven't even met yet - find those connections and the world will be yours for the taking.

  8. What are your top 3 podcasts? (do not have to be industry related)

    • About to blow your mind but... I have never listened to a podcast.

  9. Who are your top 5 women in supply chain to follow on LinkedIn?

  10. How do you deal with creeps you encounter in your work day?

    • Unfortunately they come with the territory. I usually just tell them I'm not interested in ANYTHING they have to offer if you catch my drift. I find being more direct usually gets the message across.

  11. What is your favourite way to unwind?

    • The gym is my happy place.

  12. What have you recently changed your mind about?

    • As an only child and a taurus (watch out world), I am used to taking everything on by myself, I've recently decided that I am stronger when I use my community to lift me up instead of bogging myself down with my own self restrictions.

  13. Must haves to get you thru the day?

    • iced lattes

    • spotify

    • air conditioning

    • work-out

    • travel plans to look forward to
