Gorgeous Girls In Supply Chain: Megan Estrada-Zink
Welcome to our series celebrating the incredible women in Supply Chain and Logistics! In a traditionally male-dominated field, it's important to shine a light on the inspiring women who are making a significant impact. Through a mix of insightful and fun questions, we’ll explore their journeys, challenges, and successes. While we acknowledge the contributions of everyone in this industry, this series aims to elevate the voices and stories of women who often get missed. Megan Estrada-Zink is our next feature.

What is your current role and company?
Operations Account Manager
How did you end up in the world of supply chain?
Started at Echo Logistics through an old friend of mine back in 2019 and I've been in it ever since.
What is your favourite part of your work day?
The problem solving and being thrown into situations that result in positive character development.
What is the least favourite part of your work day?
Mornings, always.
What is a systemic issue in your part of the supply chain that concerns you currently?
Lack of proper training when it comes to different types of freight, whether white glove, bonded moves, container moves. I've never worked for a company that had the time or resources to actually sit down with you and explain to you the what's and why's of how freight works. It's always been a situation of "here you go figure it out."
How would you address it if you had the power, money, or influence?
I woule have better dedicated teams for training and resources for when you're in a situation or trying to learn something new. A lot of times companies are so surprised that you don't know something and they look down at you for it, but at the same time if you've never had exposure to something or never had a hands on situation to learn from how would you know?
What is one piece of advice you have for young women entering your field?
Stay loud, network, and learn as much as you can. Don't shy away from any challenges.
What are your top 3 podcasts? (do not have to be industry related)
Haven't listened to podcasts in a hot second but I could come back to this one at a later time!
Who are your top 5 women in supply chain to follow on LinkedIn?
I'd have to come back to this question, unbeknownst to me I actually network with a lot of men now that I look through my LinkedIn list.
How do you deal with creeps you encounter in your work day?
So I may be an anomaly here but I've never been in a scenario where I've been hit on, touched inappropriately, whatever the case may be. But if it were to happen I'm not afraid to be confrontational and put you on the spot in front of people. Some call it being too much, I call it "Establishing a boundary as a woman in a male dominated field."
What is your favourite way to unwind?
Gym for sure
What have you recently changed your mind about?
Politics
Must haves to get you thru the day?
Coffee
2 lunches
Gum
More coffee
Snacks
